Eco Church

Our three eco church awards

We share the A Rocha vision of caring for creation as an integral part of loving our neighbour and following God faithfully

At Romsey Methodist we try to ensure we consider our environment as part of every decision we make, from what soap we use in the bathrooms to replacing our windows. We care about our planet and know that working to protect it is part of our service to God.

Under the A Rocha Eco Church scheme, in 2016 we achieved a Bronze Award, a Silver Award in 2017 and a Gold Award in 2020.

Eco Church Overview

We love a good cup of coffee here, so in order to reduce our waste we decided to become a Terracycle collection point for coffee bags. Anyone can bring us their empty, dry bags from used ground coffee or coffee beans, or any large flexible plastic bags from teabags. We'll then send them to Terracycle to be recycled. You can find our drop-off bin along the path down the right hand side of our building, and more detail about the waste we collect can be found here.

We regularly hold children's activities to help us think about creation and how to care for it. This included Funday Sunday making a bug house out the back of the church. And once a year Funday Sunday switches meeting in the church for meeting at the nature reserve for "Muddy Church".
